Profundity uncertainty

 

Panel 1 of 2: a person holds their chin, pensive-style, and thinks, "Am I having profound thoughts or is it just evocative nonsense?" Panel 2 of 2: We now see the person from behind; they sit on a stone and look down over a valley and low hills at the horizon where the sun is setting. Clouds above the sunset spell out the words "WHO CARES".

Downhill ever since

 

A person stands atop a rocky mountain top and, looking down at a valley below, says, "What a beautiful day!" The sun in the sky replies, "Not really. You shoulda seen this place a couple galactic years ago. Been going downhill ever since."

We showed up to a dying party. (Galactic years are a cool thing to know about, at least.)
